The Albert Square Chophouse
I’ve lived in Manchester for seven years now. I love it. We are ten minutes from the centre of town and the choice of things to do and places to eat is abundant. One problem I have found though is finding a place that serves a good Sunday Roast! However, after finding The Albert Square Chophouse right in the heart of Manchester we were hooked!
Sunday Roast
There is nothing quite like a Sunday Roast. It seems to put that tick against the end of the week and sets you up for the next perfectly. I’ve got to say, despite the fact I will probably be shot down by an angry mob of Mancunians – Manchester isn’t renowned for its Sunday Roast abilities. I lived here a while before we came across The Albert Square Chophouse and that was long enough to go through a fair few soggy roast potatoes and flat Yorkshire puddings.
I was about ready to give up all hope when we were introduced The Albert Square Chophouse.
The Menu
Our latest visit was this past Sunday. Down in the restaurant there is a special Sunday menu which changes seasonally. The space is small but there is ample room and you can see directly into the kitchen where the Chef is preparing the food.
We ordered The Famous Chop House Corned Beef Hash Cake for starter which was well presented, cooked to perfection and frankly absolutely delicious!! For main we of course went for the Roast Rump Beef which comes with a giant Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and the best gravy I’ve ever tasted and I’m from Yorkshire where we drink the stuff as a beverage!!!
There is also a specific child’s menu which serves a smaller traditional roast or the classics like fish and chips which was Henry’s choice – I am still awaiting DNA confirmation that he is my child.
The Staff
It’s safe to say I have eaten many roast dinners at The Albert Square Chop House and in turn I have been served by many different members of staff. All of which are the most polite and attentive serving staff I have met. I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad experience and it’s one of those gems in the city I am proud to show off when family visit from the South.
The location, food and staff are all perfection which is why I’m pretty convinced The Albert Square Chop House is probably the best Sunday Roast in Manchester!
