Vax Blade 32V Cordless Vacuum Cleaner Review

Vax Blade 32V Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

When I found out I was pregnant, even in those early stages I was thinking about preparing the house for the new arrival. I began organising, cleaning and decorating like a woman possessed. I seemed to be in the ‘nesting’ phase of pregnancy from 12 weeks until I gave birth. It was during this hormone fuelled period that I also decided it was the best time to try and sell my house. So, you could say that at 37 weeks pregnant I had a lot on my plate but thankfully the Vax Blade 32V Cordless Vacuum Cleaner was on hand to save the day.

I’ve had my eyes on a cordless vacuum cleaner for a while now. I hate being restricted and it’s nothing but a faff having to unplug the vacuum constantly. I’ve always been put off purchasing one though due to a number of different factors such as the price and performance capability. Naively I assumed that an absence of a cord would result in weaker performance and with two dogs and now two children that simply isn’t an option. I also felt that the price of cordless vacuums was high and it was a big gamble for a tool that might not be up to the task.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the Vax Blade 32V Cordless Vacuum Cleaner was priced around the £220.00 mark. This was far more affordable than I would have guessed and made the unit far more appealing. Does the price reflect the performance though?

Performance Rating

I’ve been using the Vax Blade 32V Cordless Vacuum Cleaner for a number of weeks now as the sole vacuum cleaner in our household. We currently live in a 3-bedroomed semi-detached house with carpeted floors throughout. As I previously mentioned I have two dogs who both shed hair on a frequent basis which can cause issues for some of the vacuum cleaners I have had in the past. If I am honest it was my main concern for the Vax Blade 32V Cordless Vacuum Cleaner and I had visions of it simply not being able to handle the task at hand.

Despite my worries and concerns the Vax Blade 32V Cordless Vacuum Cleaner was more than capable of picking up the excess dog hair from the carpet without much effort using the boost mode. Boost mode provides extra suction power for those high traffic areas and it meant I didn’t need to go over the carpet continually to pick up effectively or settle for a mediocre result. After one use the carpet looked like new and there was no sign of any loose hair. Some may say this is beginners luck and as the vacuum is used the performance will decrease which is why I have used it as the sole vacuum for the past few weeks making sure I vacuum each day and monitor the pick up each time. I have to say that I am very impressed and am yet to be let down in regards to the performance.

Charging

Like any unit that runs on a battery there is only so much life it can hold before it requires charging again. The lithium-ion battery in the Vax Blade 32V Cordless Vacuum Cleaner provides a run time of 45 minutes before needing to be recharged. I put this to the test a number of times and found that the vacuum held it’s charge and provided enough power for me to vacuum my whole house without needing to stop.

Charging the vacuum is simple using the charger included and you can mount the vacuum to the wall for easy storage whilst you do so. A full charge is complete in only four hours and you can clearly see when the unit is charged or requires charging on the light up panel.

Ease of Use

The Vax Blade 32V Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is easy to steer and navigate. I liked that it wasn’t too heavy to lift or push which made things like vacuuming the stairs a breeze. As it is so easy to operate and lightweight I can even manage a quick vacuum whilst holding the baby! Whenever I need to replace my Vax, I’ll definitely look for a vacuum with a similar lightweight design, as it makes cleaning much easier.

When you are finished any dirt that is captured is compressed into the easy to empty bin it really is that simple!

Final Thoughts

I would say that the Vax Blade 32V Cordless Vacuum Cleaner easily rivals a standard vacuum. I didn’t feel in any way restricted or at a disadvantage because I wasn’t connected to the mains and it certainly didn’t impact the performance. Jobs like vacuuming the stairs which I had previously avoided whilst pregnant were now easy and simple with little effort required. I have had a lot of fun testing out the vacuum and I’m not sure I could live without it now!
