When it comes to buying Christmas gifts for babies and toddlers, it can be quite tricky. In an attempt to help, I have put together a selection of my favourite items that I hope will inspire you.

Items to Use

I always think items that will be used are a great gift idea for anyone to be honest but especially babies and children. Things that will come in handy from day to day and that are useful make an excellent gift in my opinion.

Most friends and family opt for clothing that won’t fit the baby in a month or is too big, probably for a year or so, or toys that the baby won’t know how to utilize until much later. However, very few people go for things that won’t be put in the far corner of the room and get dusty while waiting for their turn. Search for something like plastic bottles, baby weaning sets, high chairs, etc.; things that make sense and won’t be a waste of money or space but will come in handy to both the baby and the parent.

Regular readers will know that when I had my youngest son Hugo, we used the Chicco Next2Me, which was one of the best baby items I had this time around. I am a big Chicco fan, and I think their products are practical, built to last and pleasing to look at. A perfect Christmas gift from them comes in the form of their Next2Moon Projector. This is a 3in1 projector, and it can be attached to the cot with the canopy, with the canopy removed altogether or on a bedside table. Calming music plays while a colourful display is projected onto either the canopy if attached or the ceiling of the room. Available in blue, pink or neutral from *Amazon RRP £29.99.

I am a big fan of the Beatrix Potter Gifts by Enesco, and I have featured their items many times before. I am particularly impressed with their bamboo dinner sets and tableware. They have a selection of plates, bowls and cups that can be purchased separately all featuring the gorgeous Peter Rabbit designs. They also have a this cute Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit bamboo Christmas dinner set which would make a lovely gift. The set includes a plate, bowl, cup and cutlery all made from dishwasher safe bamboo.

Another beneficial gift, especially for any baby that is starting or currently baby-led weaning is a Bibetta Bib. Bibetta is another brand I have consistently featured because their products are one of the best. The UltraBib is one of my favourites as it has a pelican-style pocket that folds out to catch food. Its neoprene material makes it soft and flexible, so it’s comfortable to wear. The outside layer is absorbent, and the inner layer is waterproof, so even if your baby has a spill, it won’t soak through to their clothes! Even better you can chuck it in both the washer machine and drier to reuse again and again! They have a whole selection of cute designs, so they are well worth checking out!

A lovely gift for babies would be the Baby To Love Musical Night Light Turtle. This cute little turtle plays soothing tunes to help lull your little one to sleep. It has a timer function so gradually turns itself off. The battery lasts around 10 hours and can be recharged by placing the turtle on the recharging base that is included. The nightlight has three colours and is LED, which means there is no risk of it getting hot.

Books make great gifts for young children and reading together is an essential part of their development. There is an abundance of books out there from classics to unique originals. Personally, I love a book with a strong positive message, and Who Do I See in the Mirror? Is all of that wrapped in a bow. This is a diverse book about genuinely loving the skin you are in – a message young children should hear! If that isn’t reason enough to love this book for every book sold Philly & Friends give a book to an underprivileged child! Available from *Amazon RRP £10.
