Four Ways To Spoil Yourself This Week

I think we can all agree that being a parent is extremely rewarding and gratifying. There is no better feeling than knowing that your little ones are happy, content, well looked after and loved. And while being a parent can sometimes be tricky, difficult and utterly exhausting we all know that it’s worth it. Becoming a parent means that you’re committed to putting your needs behind those of your children, and that’s fine. But being a parent doesn’t mean that you can’t spoil yourself from time to time.

Treating ourselves can certainly seem like an alien concept! But spoiling yourself is good for you both physically and mentally, which means that you can enter the parenting arena fully refreshed, focused and ready to be the best parent you can be. With this is mind, I’ve come up with 4 ways you can start spoiling yourself this week.

Go on, you deserve it!

Visit your dentist

I know, I know. It doesn’t exactly scream “treat yourself” does it? However, booking yourself an appointment with you dentist is a great way to look after yourself! Having your oral health checked – check out Weybridge Dental Practice if you’re looking for a new dentist – means that your dentist can keep an eye on all those potential dental issues, like sore gums or sensitive teeth before they take hold and give you real problems. If you’re feeling fabulous then have a look at some teeth whitening treatments.

Hit the gym

We all know that moving your body and getting enough exercise has obvious health benefits. But moving your body and raising your heart rate is good for your mental health too. It’s a great stress reliever and can really help to reset and refocus your mind. But you don’t have to sweat it out in a heavy gym session, try some yoga or Pilates at home – check out YouTube for some super simple beginners videos – or just enjoy a brisk walk with the pram around the neighbourhood.

Read

Studies have shown that a high percentage of adults wish that they had more time to read. And when you become a parent, the most reading we get is probably board books or nursery rhymes…so, why not set some time aside to catch up on that book you’ve been meaning to finish. Or head to a charity shop and pick up a pre-loved favourite. Once the kids are in bed, you can jump straight in!

Have a long soak

There isn’t much that a long soak in a hot bath can’t cure. So, when the kids are in bed make sure you take full advantage of the fact! Run yourself a deep bath with your favourite bubble baths or herbal salts and soak away all those aches and pains. You could bring your book (see above) a nice playlist or something nice and bubbly in a tall glass. Afterwards, don’t forget to lather your skin with an indulgent moisturiser and snuggle up in a fresh dressing gown.
