Many people seem to think that falling pregnant is the easiest thing in the world to do. Whilst it does seem to happen quite quickly for some couples, for others it doesn’t happen quite as easily.

There are a variety of hurdles that you can face, you could be someone who has had a miscarriage and is trying again, or you could be someone who has been trying with their partner for months and months with no luck. You could also be a couple who have to try alternative fertility methods such as in vitro fertilisation. No matter your own personal fertility story, one thing is for sure, trying to get pregnant can be enough to test your sanity.

To help you to try and keep yourself sane when you are trying to get pregnant, we have put together some of our top tips for you to keep in mind.

Don’t ever blame yourself

Despite our best efforts in life, things don’t always go to plan. This means that whilst you may have great things planned, they may not work out. Even having a baby. The worst thing that you can do is blame yourself for your fertility issues. It is not your fault, it is just something that is happening right now in your life. Rather than focusing on what is going wrong, the important thing to do is to think about how you can turn things around and make them right in the long-term.

Accept that you will be stressed

It is incredibly stressful trying to conceive and it is vitally important that you are as kind as possible to yourself during these times. The best thing that you can do is to accept that you are going to feel stressed out from time to time. If you know that stress is going to happen, then you are going to find it much easier to accept this and limit the impact that it has on your life.

Minimize your stress elsewhere

If you have a lot of focus on getting pregnant, then you should do whatever you can to minimize the stress that you feel elsewhere in your life. Try and keep your other routines simple, don’t put too much pressure on yourself, at work, or at home. Remind yourself to take breaks as and when you can never feel guilty that you need to take your foot off the pedal from time to time.

Talk it out

There are going to be a whole lot of complex feelings and emotions going around during times of stress, this is even more true when you are trying to conceive. One of the best things that you can do is plan to talk it over with someone. This could be a friend or family member, or, if you think that you need more expert help, then you could always plan in to see a professional who can give you some valuable advice.

The most important thing that you need to do is to be as kind as possible to yourself. You are going to feel a lot of different ways whilst you are trying to fall pregnant, so recognize that all of these emotions are okay and you will be well on your way to staying sane.
