Spring Clean
It’s that time of year where I can finally open the doors and windows and air the house out. I love the idea of giving the place a good old Spring clean ready for the warmer weather. It’s not just the inside that could do with a spruce up as the outer areas have been neglected over Winter tand hey need some extra TLC. Luckily for me I have had the help of some trusty Marigold products to make my job that bit easier!
Marigold
I always remember my Granny practically living in her Marigold gloves as I was growing up. She was a canteen chef and an avid cleaner and Marigolds were practically her best friends! I would always nag at her to let me wear them and they were always far too big but I felt like they were the coolest thing ever! She said it was important to protect your hands and as I have grown older I know exactly what she meant.
Over the years, as I have grown up, I am in no way any type of chef and I certainly aren’t an avid cleaner but I have dabbled in my own rubber gloves from time to time. I’ve tried other brands before but the fit is never right or they damage too easily so I always returned to the trusted Marigold glove!
Marigold turn 70 this year which completely blows my mind but shows you just how established and trusted they are as a brand.
Marigold Gloves
For my mammoth Spring clean task I knew I was going to need a good old pair of Marigolds. So to start with I needed a pair of the best Extra Life Kitchen Gloves to help get down and dirty clean in the kitchen. When it comes to kitchen gloves at the best of times I need a resilient, strong pair that won’t tear easily or breakdown under the use of strong cleaners. The Marigold Extra Life Kitchen Gloves certainly didn’t let me down even when it came to scrubbing the inside of my oven!
For the bathroom the Longer Bathroom Gloves are essential! As with the Kitchen gloves they are resilient and strong even when using harsh chemical cleaners. One difference is that they have a slightly longer length which prevents water from getting in which is a huge pet hate of mine!
Marigold also do a set of gloves specifically for the outdoors which meant clearing away the patio area was going to be a breeze. The Marigold Extra Tough Outdoor Gloves were extremely strong and hard-wearing and even when I was moving pieces from the old rockery they didn’t tear or damage. In fact they still look as though they are fresh out of the packet!
All of the Marigold gloves are comfortable and easy to wear and have great grip even when wet which means there is no need to take them off and put them on again.
More Than Just Rubber Gloves
Recently I learnt that Marigold do more than just rubber gloves and I was interested to try some of the other range.
I use a lot of kitchen roll in our house. I hate that it’s such a waste but I can’t seem to find anything that works as well. Marigold do a semi disposable roll called Oops Away. It’s simply a roll of all-purpose cloth which you can tear off like kitchen roll to clean up spills etc. I found that it is far more absorbent than kitchen roll so the roll has lasted far longer. What I really loved was that the cloth can be chucked in the washing machine up to 60 degrees and used again. Not only is this better for the environment but it’s better on the wallet too!
Marigolds next generation microfibre cloth called Squeaky Clean is great for polishing or cleaning without leaving those streak marks. It meant that wiping down my chrome appliances and glass doors was a breeze and saved me a load of time and frustration! This cloth can also be put in the washing machine up to 60 degrees and reused!!
The Marigold Cleaning Me Softly non-scratch scourer is a complete dream for removing stubborn marks from delicate surfaces. If my dogs come in from outside and it’s muddy and they shake splashing up the walls (which they do A LOT) I can use this scourer on the walls without removing the actual paint!
Despite it being so gentle on surfaces it is extremely effective and I even used it to remove some paint over spray from my car!
Finally as it is BBQ season coming up I have to mention the No More Elbow Grease stainless steel pad! This stainless steel scourer is long-lasting and absolutely amazing for removing grime from BBQ’s, grills and pots & pans! It requires minimal effort but reaps huge reward so absolutely worth and investment in my opinion!
My Overall Thoughts
I could wax lyrical all day about Marigold gloves. I grew up with them and have used them myself ever since. Even if I was a tad disloyal by trying other brands!! After trying some of the other products in the Marigold range I am extremely impressed. The products are all about high performance with minimal effort, which as a busy Mum is exactly what I need!
